IWSI America has opened an Artificial Intelligence pre-apprenticeship under Ready, Willing & Able, delivered in collaboration with Cyber Proud, Inc. and running across Northern California.
The region carries a large number of experienced IT workers who have been displaced from the industry. Many have real technical depth and a gap on their résumé that is doing them more damage than their skills deserve. IWSI sees this as an opportunity to re-skill and reboot those careers, giving people a current, dated credential in the area every employer is now asking about, alongside the coaching to get back into the market with confidence.
Cyber Proud delivers AI-101: Generative AI Fundamentals, a two-hour instructor-led workshop covering effective prompting, responsible AI use, privacy, verification and human judgment. The course aligns with the U.S. Department of Labor's AI Literacy Framework, and participants complete with a Level 1 Micro-Credential, digital badge and certificate. Training runs live virtually or in person on site, so participants spread across the region can all take part. Community AI literacy training is currently supported through funding from Accenture, and the program is free to participants.
IWSI America provides every participant with a one-on-one career coach, mentoring, résumé and interview support, employability skills for a fast-changing job market, and introductions to employers.
